A custom outdoor kitchen island in Southern California typically costs $10,000 to $50,000+. A straight island with a built-in propane grill and counter space sits at the low end, while a long or L-shaped island with several propane appliances, bar seating and premium stone sits at the high end.
A built-in grill island usually runs $10,000 to $20,000. That covers a straight island with a cutout for a propane grill, a vented tank compartment with its own access door, storage, a granite or concrete countertop and a stucco or stone veneer base. A full outdoor kitchen island, typically $20,000 to $50,000, adds length or an L shape, a side burner, a plug-in outdoor refrigerator, stainless drawers, a trash pull-out and a raised bar ledge for seating.
Entertainer's islands above $50,000 include multiple cooking appliances such as a pizza oven or second grill, premium stone or porcelain counters, stone veneer on every face, a long bar overhang, lighting and a cover or shade structure overhead. The appliance package is often the largest single line item, and built-in models cost more than cart grills. Linear feet of counter, the base finish and the countertop material drive most of the rest.
Legacy builds islands around propane appliances and plug-in refrigeration and lighting, which keeps the project within the scope that does not need a building permit. That also keeps the budget simpler, since no gas line, new circuit or sink plumbing has to be run to the island. Pricing is the same across the cities we serve. Every outdoor kitchen is priced from a detailed written estimate after a free in-home consultation.
