Most outdoor kitchens take 2 to 4 weeks to build on site, depending on the island's size and how many appliances it holds. Before construction starts, allow time for design, appliance ordering and any HOA approval, since that stretch often takes longer than the build itself.
The project starts with a free in-home consultation, then one to two weeks of design, when the layout, countertop and base finish are chosen. Appliance sizes are confirmed early because their cutout dimensions set the island layout, and propane models are chosen at this stage. Appliance lead times vary by manufacturer and model. If you live in a planned community, HOA review of the location, height, materials and colors usually runs while the appliances are on order.
On site, the first week covers layout on the patio, slab preparation or a footing where a heavy island needs one, and framing the base with cutouts for the grill, the tank compartment, doors and drawers. Weeks two and three are typically the stucco or stone veneer, countertop templating and installation, and any bar ledge or backsplash. The final days are for setting the grill, side burner, refrigerator, stainless doors and drawers and lighting.
Before we leave, the propane connection is checked for leaks and we walk through every detail with you. Because Legacy's islands use propane and plug-in appliances, there is no permit review or inspection to schedule, which keeps the on-site work predictable. Larger L-shaped islands, stone veneer on every face and multiple appliances push the schedule toward four weeks. We give you a written schedule before work begins.
