That is the main reason the on-site schedule stays short.
On site, days 1 to 3 cover floor and hallway protection, demolition, and plumbing and electrical rough-in at the existing locations. Days 3 to 9 cover backer board, the shower pan and waterproofing membrane, a water test of the pan, then wall and floor tile and grout. Days 9 to 12 cover the vanity, countertop, toilet, fixtures, lighting, paint and accessories, followed by a walkthrough with you. Frameless glass is measured after tile and installed once it is fabricated, which can add a short wait at the end.
A primary suite takes 2 to 4 weeks because there is more of everything: a larger shower, more tile, a double vanity and often a freestanding tub. Natural stone, large-format tile and detailed patterns also add tile days. The other variable is what is behind the walls. Past leaks, rotted subfloor or old pipe show up only after demolition.
