A custom walk-in closet system combines hanging space at the right heights, drawers, shoe and accessory shelving, and an island where the room allows, all built to your measurements and anchored to the walls. Design starts with what you own, not a standard layout. We look at how much you hang in long and short lengths, how many shoes you keep, and what you would rather fold into drawers. Those counts set the mix of double-hang rods, long-hang sections, shelves and drawer stacks on each wall. Tall storage is planned with reach in mind, so everyday items sit at a comfortable height and seasonal items go higher up.
Room size decides whether an island fits. An island needs enough clearance on every side for you to walk past it and open its drawers, and the door swing has to be checked as well. If the room is too narrow, a run of drawers along one wall gives you much of the same storage and a counter on top. Tall towers are anchored to wall studs so they cannot tip in an earthquake, which matters in California.
Lighting and power follow the same rule as the rest of our built-in work. Plug-in LED lighting that runs off an existing outlet is simple to include if an outlet is well placed. New outlets, a new circuit or hardwired fixtures need an electrical permit and are outside the projects we take on. Cost follows linear footage, drawer count, and material and finish, so it is priced after we measure. You get a written estimate after a free in-home consultation.
