What do 3D renderings show before a kitchen remodel?

The short answer

3D renderings show how your new kitchen will look and fit together before anything is ordered, including the cabinet layout, island placement, appliance locations, countertop and backsplash finishes, and lighting plan. They help you catch problems and compare options while changes are still easy, but physical samples are still needed to judge final colors.

A rendering is a to-scale picture of your kitchen built from the measurements taken in your home. It places the cabinets, appliances, island, sink and range in the room, so you can judge proportion and flow instead of reading a flat drawing. It answers practical questions early. How do taller upper cabinets look against the ceiling? Does the refrigerator feel too heavy at the end of a run? Is the island too large for the room? Those are much easier to settle on a screen.

Renderings are also useful for comparing finishes. You can look at light cabinets against dark ones, a quartz counter against a veined stone, or a simple tile against a patterned backsplash in the same view. That makes it easier for a couple to reach agreement, since both people are reacting to one picture. They also help reveal where a change would affect something else, such as a larger range needing a different cabinet opening or a different hood above it.

A rendering has limits. Screens do not reproduce color and texture exactly, so hold real cabinet, stone and tile samples in your kitchen light before you decide. The image also will not show what is behind the walls, which only demolition can reveal. Legacy Construction & Design creates renderings during the design and selections phase, typically 1 to 2 weeks, before cabinets are ordered. Because they work within your existing layout, what you see stays within the scope that does not require a building permit.
